The Holy Monastery of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary of Chrysinou was founded in 1740 and is located in the place Bouziania at 680 m. altitude. It was founded after the destruction of the monastery of the same name, which was located lower down in the position of Chania Chrysinou and burnt down during the Civil War (1946-49). The one-room church and the outer walls with the battlements are preserved today. Today the restoration work is being completed, but the interior of the church is still in its original state, with frescoes that follow the iconographic style of the churches. The Platytera among archangels, with the Hierarchs in the lower zone, is found in the niche of the Sanctuary, while the iconographic program both in the Sanctuary and in the nave follows the layout of the zones.
The lower zone includes full-length saints, the middle zone includes saints in medals and the upper zone includes scenes from the Divine Liturgy, the Twelve Days and the Passion of Christ, as well as the 24 Houses of the Hymnal. The katholikon is an arched church measuring 6.54 x 7.89 m, i.e. the sanctuary and nave without the niche and the later narthex on the west side.
